Here in Columbus County, the Waccamaw Siouan Tribe embodies the beauty and cultural heritage found within Native American tribes across the United States. In this video, members of the “People of the Falling Star” Tribe give us a snapshot of their lives and highlight their perspectives on important social issues through art, dance, pageantry, history, oral tradition and more.
Entitled “We’re Still Here,” the video is part of the “Where I Come From” series, a collaborative media project created by Community CPR and Coastal Youth Media (a program of Narrative Arts). The video was produced with contributions by Faith Jacobs, Myligh Marie Moore, Pamela Jacobs, Rakyah Jacobs, Sage Moore. This project is funded in part by a grant from South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and the North Carolina Arts Council.
